Green Angels is a project team within The Land Trust that commissions nature-based training programmes aimed at increasing confidence, wellbeing, and access to green careers for people. Nature Matters has delivered a series of successful courses as part of the Green Angels offer in Wiltshire, providing high-quality, inclusive training in conservation, ecological skills, and sustainable land management.
Delivery and Reach
Since December 2022, Nature Matters has run multiple Green Angels courses at Castle Hill Country Park in Salisbury. The programme regularly attracts over 30 sign-ups per course, with a consistent waiting list, demonstrating strong demand for accessible, hands-on environmental learning in the area.
Each course blends practical conservation techniques with ecological understanding, group learning, and opportunities for continued involvement. Sessions are grounded in inclusive facilitation and aim to build confidence and community alongside skills.
Key Outcomes

8-14 participants per cohort, consistently oversubscribed
Delivered practical training in Conservation and Land Management, including topics such as; wildflower identification, meadow management, plant and soil science, woodland structure and management, natural and economic history alongside practical tool-based skills.
Participants report improved wellbeing, confidence, and motivation to get involved in green volunteering or employment
Nature Matters designs and delivers the training ensuring sessions are welcoming, empowering, and practical. Each course supports participants to connect with nature, build peer relationships, and learn by doing.
Castle Hill Country Park provides an ideal learning environment, offering diverse habitats and scope for real-world conservation work. The programme has helped improve local greenspaces while supporting individual and community development.
Due to the success of the Salisbury-based courses, the Green Angels programme is now exploring opportunities for Nature Matters to deliver training at additional sites across the region. The approach continues to evolve based on feedback and growing demand for accessible green skills training.
